We, the grateful people of Jamaica, speak not from abstraction but from lived experience. Across decades, we have felt directly and profoundly the healing hands, open hearts, and unwavering commitment of the Cuban people.
From the presence of Cuban medical professionals in our hospitals and clinics, to the many Jamaicans who were afforded the opportunity to pursue higher education in Cuba at no cost, this relationship has never been symbolic it has been life-changing. Many among us owe our health, our education, and our professional standing to that enduring partnership.
We remember, too, the generations of Jamaican students who have passed through institutions built through Cuban cooperation. These schools stand not only as places of learning, but as lasting symbols of friendship, investment, and belief in the Jamaican people.

In the sphere of sport, the story is no different. The development of our athletes, supported in part through institutions like the G.C. Foster College, reflects a quiet but powerful legacy of Cuban collaboration one that has helped to shape Jamaica’s excellence on the global stage.
This is what true solidarity looks like. It is not rooted in convenience, nor driven by self-interest, but grounded in a consistent and principled commitment to uplifting others. For 65 years, Cuba has demonstrated that giving back to humanity is not an occasional gesture, but a defining principle embedded in its philosophy of democratic socialism.
At a time when global relations often feel transactional and uncertain, Cuba’s example stands as a reminder that small nations can lead with moral clarity, compassion, and purpose. It challenges the world to reimagine what is possible when humanity, rather than profit, is placed at the center of policy and action.

Today, our words move beyond gratitude into tribute. We salute the people and Government of Cuba not only for their achievements, but for their enduring spirit of service to the world.
Jamaica remembers. Jamaica stands in respect. And Jamaica gives thanks.
