The future of Jamaica’s events industry took centre stage, as Blueprint Events hosted the second staging of The Art of Events at the AC Hotel by Marriott Kingston, bringing together leading creatives, planners, and industry stakeholders.
Held under the theme, “Designing Tomorrow, Inspiring Today,” the immersive conference revealed a clear shift in how events are being conceptualised, produced, and experienced. Across discussions led by industry experts, five key emerging trends stood out, offering a roadmap for the future of event planning both locally and regionally.

A major shift is the move toward experience-first design, where events are no longer built around rigid programmes but around how attendees feel, engage, and connect. Speakers highlighted the importance of immersive environments, personalised touchpoints, and shareable moments that extend beyond the event itself.
AI as a Strategic Tool
Another defining trend is the growing role of Artificial Intelligence as a strategic tool. From streamlining logistics to enhancing audience engagement and content creation, AI is becoming embedded in planning processes. However, presenters emphasised that its true value lies in supporting, not replacing, human creativity.

The conference also underscored hospitality as a competitive advantage, with organisers placing greater focus on the full attendee journey. Thoughtful, intentional service, from arrival to departure, is now seen as essential to creating memorable and differentiated experiences.
Equally important is the rise of collaborative production, as the industry moves away from siloed execution. Partnerships among agencies, creatives, and service providers are enabling more innovative, cohesive, and impactful events.

Hosted by RushCam and Kimberley Dunkley Watkins, the conference featured expert-led sessions spanning foundational planning, collaboration, large-scale production, and emerging technologies, alongside a vibrant expo showcasing leading companies across décor, production, and event technology.
Scaling experiences for impact
Finally, discussions highlighted the influence of scaling experiences for impact, drawing inspiration from large-scale festivals. Concepts such as multi-zone environments, layered programming, and strategic crowd flow are now being adapted across corporate and branded events to elevate audience engagement.

With strong participation and forward-looking discussions, The Art of Events 2026 has reinforced its role as a catalyst for innovation and growth, positioning Jamaica’s events industry to become more structured, collaborative, and globally competitive.
Founder and CEO, Deane Shepherd says the evolution of the platform reflects broader changes within the industry. “We set out to create more than just an event, we wanted to build a platform that reflects the full scope and potential of Jamaica’s events industry, from creativity and production to strategy and execution,” Shepherd explained.

He noted that the insights shared reflect a broader movement within the industry adding, “what we’ve seen is the power of bringing the industry together, planners, creatives, corporate partners, and emerging talent, to share ideas, explore opportunities, and push the boundaries of what’s possible.”
