Strong early market response fuels expansion as Fidelity Motors deepens investment in innovative mobility solutions
Fidelity Motors Limited (FML) officially unveiled the full Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC) vehicle line-up to the Jamaican public on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, delivering an immersive brand experience that underscored the marque’s rapid rise and strong early performance in the local market.
The large-scale launch which took place amid a sea of invited guests who flocked the National Indoor Sports Centre, marked a defining moment for the brand following its initial local market introduction in late 2025, with six models on display – the GS3 Emzoom, Emkoo, GS8, Empow, AION V, and the debut of the all-new S7.

Record global sales & top residual value
Jamaica is the latest Caribbean country to introduce GAC at a time when the brand is celebrating a record-breaking March with a total 42,165 units sold globally, reflecting an 86% increase year-on-year. Alan Bayne, Chief Executive Officer of Goddard Enterprises Limited (GEL) Auto Division, which owns Fidelity Motors, says GAC enters the local market, not just with growing global popularity, but also with accolades that Jamaicans will find appealing, like residual value.
“In the February 2026 China Automotive Residual Value Report, GAC was ranked number one in 3-year residual value among Chinese brands. Having a Chinese vehicle brand that holds significant resale value will provide much comfort to the Jamaican car buyer,” Bayne explained.
General Manager of Fidelity Motors Limited, Deborah Stewart, said the event celebrated a shift in the local automotive landscape. “As we celebrate 25 years, we are seeing a clear shift in what customers value – not just affordability, but technology, design, safety and overall driving experience. GAC delivers on all these fronts,” Stewart said.
She continued, “This launch was about more than showcasing vehicles; it was about demonstrating a new standard in the market. The response since our introduction late last year has been extremely encouraging, and with the introduction of the S7, we are building on that momentum with a line-up that is innovative, accessible and aligned with the needs of today’s Jamaican driver.”
The event brought the GAC brand to life through a dynamic and interactive showcase designed to highlight its innovation, design philosophy and advanced technology. Guests experienced the vehicles through guided walkthroughs, immersive brand installations and on-site test drives.
The GAC S7, introduced as the newest addition to the GAC line-up in Jamaica, emerged as the centrepiece of the evening. Representing the next phase of the brand’s evolution, the GAC S7 is a large 5-seater intelligent Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) SUV designed for adventure and comfort, featuring a 1.5T hybrid engine, a 1,150km total range, L2++ map-free autonomous driving, and advanced AI-integrated lighting. It is built on GAC’s new EV+ platform, offering a rugged, luxurious, and highly tech-forward experience.
Since entering the Jamaican market, GAC has demonstrated strong early momentum, resonating with consumers seeking modern design, high-spec features and strong value within an increasingly competitive automotive landscape.
Globally, GAC Motor has built a reputation for quality and innovation, supported by partnerships with leading international suppliers such as Bosch, Denso and Michelin, as well as joint ventures with automotive giants including Toyota and Honda. Each vehicle undergoes extensive durability testing – exceeding four million kilometres – and is backed by competitive warranty packages, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to reliability and long-term ownership value.

The launch was attended by His Excellency Wang Jinfeng, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Jamaica, who signalled support for a Chinese automotive brand entering the Jamaican market. He shared “Today’s launch reflects the deepening partnership between China and Jamaica, built on shared growth and collaboration. We commend Fidelity Motors Limited and GEL Automotive Group in bringing GAC Motor to the Jamaican market.”
He continued, “As Chinese companies continue to expand globally, Jamaica remains an important partner in the Caribbean – open to innovation, investment, and new opportunities. We are encouraged to see brands like GAC bringing advanced technology, quality, and global expertise to the Jamaican market, contributing not only to consumer choice but also to the strengthening of economic and diplomatic ties between our two countries.”
The current line-up in Jamaica reflects a diverse offering tailored to a wide range of drivers; from the sporty, tech-forward GS3 Emzoom and the futuristic Emkoo, to the premium, family-oriented GS8, the performance-driven Empow sedan, and the fully electric AION V, which signals the brand’s push into sustainable mobility.
The launch also reinforced the strength of the regional partnership behind the brand – GEL Auto Division and Motorworld, the Caribbean distributor for GAC. Motorworld, recognised for its achievements at the 2025 GAC International Partner Conference, focuses on delivering advanced, high-quality vehicles with strong warranties and parts supply to the region.
With a growing global footprint and an expanding regional presence, GAC’s continued rollout in Jamaica reflects a strategic push to meet evolving consumer demands while delivering a modern, technology-driven driving experience.
